What is sugar syrup and lemon lime soda in a punch?

I want to do a punch but I have no clue what lemon lime soda and sugar syrup is! Please could you tell me, thanks.|||Lemon lime soda is Sprite or 7-Up





Sugar syrup, also known as simple syrup, is equal parts sugar and water, melted together in a saucepan and cooled





Ingredients


2 cups sugar


2 cups water





Method


Combine sugar and water in a saucepan over moderate heat. Bring just to the boil, ensure the sugar is completely disolved and remove from heat; set aside to cool.





Simple Syrup keeps indefinitely, cover and refrigerate.
