How do punch a board without hurting your wrist?

I tried to punch a board because my instructor told me to. When I did I thought i sprained my wrist. It it stopped hurting the next two days.|||CTC is right! but if your instructor taught you wrong ... start by keeping fist side-ways (paper-rock-scissor form) and start so very very very softly which could not even be considered a baby punch. Do this until you start feeling your knuckles getting little red. Stop. Do it again another time, same. You need to learn how to keep your wrist in position in order to make contact with front %26amp; index finger knuckle. Do not be anxious! It takes time. Not hour or days but weeks and months ... using gloves is OK and using something to support your wrist (tape etc) is ok, but NOT until after you have learned the correct feeling and contact point ... you can do all this without any body dynamics.|||If you hurt your wrist it is mostlikely because your wrist was not straight.

You need to keep your wrist straight when striking, try hitting a heavy bag for a while.

You may want tot start off striking it lightly so as to minimize injury, it you feel any pain its because your wrist is bent. Then as you get use to hitting it and you don't feel any pain start hitting it harder and harder|||You need to go back and practice your basic punching form. If you wrist hurts it's because your knuckles aren't aligned with your forearm correctly. I would suggest working on locking your fist in the correct position for a while. And before punching a hard surface like a board, you should probably practice on the focus mitts or heavy bag, which are relatively soft.|||Just ask ur instructor to show u the proper technique to break boards. Its easier for him to show u than to have someone expkain it over the internet. Good luck
