What makes a person beable to punch hard?

Eg, two people might be the same height, weight and build but one can punch harder than the other. Why? Is it just technic?|||Technique is the main reason. Also the torque involved in the rotation of the hips is big, and lastly you also have to make sure you are punching THROUGH your target, not just at your target.|||Dont punch flat footed, stay on the balls of your feet .Army golden gloves.|||the most powerful blows are awkward hammer punches to the shoulder and backwards kicks.|||You could have perfect form and technique but there is no substitute for having been born with that particular talent and having the right genetics. Why do some guys throw a baseball 95mph when the rest can't? It's thats quick twitch muscle reflex. It's not technique because you and I know we could go out and practice everyday and never be able to throw 90. It's just a gift.|||Proper technique has almost everything to do with punching power.

For example; the straight right hand (cross). -

When thrown properly the cross is throwwn from the face in a straight line to its target. POWER is generated from the pivot of the rear leg, and a violent twist in the hips/sholders into the punch.

You can see when thrown properly the right cross involves the whole body. not just the arm.

This is why an average sized person that punches properly has more power than a larger opponent who punches with just the muscles in the arm.

"For every action there is an opposite yet equal reaction"

that is one of the theories that can be applied to punching power. ie.... When you push the ball of your rear leg down twards the earth and pivit(twist) the earth dosnt move. Instead the force generated against the earth is thrown back against your leg. Try this with just the leg involved and you will see it lifts your whole body. But if you allow the rest of your body to cooperate with the force from the earth the energy travels up the leg into through the torso (this is why a strong core is vital to developing punching power. if your core is weak it can lessen the power generated from the pivot in the leg) down the arm and out the fist into your opponent. BAM!!!!! POWER

REMEMBER: strengh alone is not power. strength+speed+velocity=Explosive strength

Explosive strength is the ability to express significant tension in minimal time. (Verkhoshansky, 1977) In other words POWER

thats why "the strongest athletes in the weight room arent always the strongest athletes in the ring". (Enamait, 2006)

"Sure he's strong, but is he powerful ? "- Bruce Lee (on the beach, not in a movie)|||Bruce Lee gave the best answer; if you punched THROUGH, you would most likely send your target flying across the room (if done right). But if you tightened your fist at the last second and snapped at the target, it won't fly as much but would definitely hurt.

The first is like hitting with an iron bar. The second, with a chain and an iron ball at the end.

But you have to define what HARD means.|||I think it's genetic!!!
