Is it more illegal to punch the President than to punch a regular guy?

If I were to walk up to Obama and punch him in the stomach, would I get a heavier penalty than I would if I were to just slug an average joe?





Not that I want to punch Obama. This is purely legal.|||It is. Remember Sarah Jane Moore and Squeaky Fromme both got life sentences (since commuted) just for taking potshots at the president that missed. An ordinary target wouldn't rate that much.|||The crime would be at the federal level. It would not be a state level charge like if you hit a guy in a bar.





Once at the federal level one could just kiss their butt goodby for a very long time. Then the state would go after you as well. And then you would have to deal with the initial charge at the county level.
